Collaboration
The Collaboration area includes two tools that allow you to communicate
with your instructor and classmates in real time, Chat and Virtual
Classroom. The Chat tool includes only a chat area while the Virtual
Classroom includes both a chat area and a whiteboard.
You must have
Java installed on your computer to use either of these tools.
- To access the Collaboration area, click “Communication” from the menu on
the left.
- Click “Collaboration”.

- You will see a list of Collaboration Sessions created by your instructor.
Look through the list to find the session that you should be attending.
- Check the “Tool” column to determine if the Collaboration Session that
you will attend uses either the “Chat” or the “Virtual Classroom” tool.
- If a Collaboration Session has started, you will see a “Join” button to
the right of the session’s information. Click the “Join” button to continue.
- If a session hasn’t started yet, the “Join” button will not be displayed, so
you should check back when the session is set to begin.
Note: If you arrive to the Collaboration Session page early and the “Join”
button is not yet available, you will either need to refresh the page once
the session has started or leave the Collaboration Session page and then
return to it before you will see the “Join” button.
