Building Construction Inspector – (Midlothian Campus) - #R0004 Open until filled
Hiring Range: $31,979-$70,801
Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Responsibilities: Restricted full-time position. Serve as construction inspector/clerk of the works for new construction projects, major renovation projects and other projects as assigned including preparation and maintenance of daily reports and other documentation to ensure compliance with contract documents and building codes. This is a restricted position funded by a capital outlay project for the construction of a 70,000 sq. ft. academic building and a 350 space parking garage on the John Tyler Community College Midlothian Campus. Estimated construction period 13-15 months.
Qualifications: High school diploma (or equivalent) required. Considerable knowledge and experience in construction related field is required. Knowledge of building codes, project schedules, and construction means, methods, and procedures. Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans and apply building codes and standards. Ability to perform visual inspections of all building components and verify work is accomplished in accordance with contract documents. Ability to maintain a harmonious relationship with college personnel, professional designers and construction contractors. Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing. License or certification in architecture or engineering design or MEP building trades preferred. Background check required.
*All full-time classified employees new to the Commonwealth of Virginia will serve a 12 month probationary period.
