Responsibilities: This is a full-time, twelve-month administrative faculty position for John Tyler Community College’s Nursing program. Responsibilities include day-to-day oversight of the nursing program; evaluating and supervising full- and part-time nursing faculty; oversight, assessment, scheduling of nursing courses and curricula; providing academic advising and customer service to nursing students; ensuring that the program meets the requirements of the Virginia Board of Nursing and the accreditation standards of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN); representing John Tyler’s nursing program to the community; maintaining strong positive relationships with external agencies for clinical practice; and preparing the faculty and students for the future of nursing in Virginia. This position reports to the Dean of Math, Natural and Health Sciences and is located at the Nursing Education Center in Midlothian.
Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in nursing; eligibility for licensure in VA; and a current, active, unrestricted license to practice as RN. Significant experience in nursing education and program leadership, preferably at the Associate Degree level; demonstrate a strong commitment to associate degree nursing education and academic progression in nursing; demonstrated ability to provide leadership in instruction, curriculum development, and student and faculty evaluation. Exceptional leadership skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of ACEN standards and the VA Board of Nursing regulations is expected. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check will be required. Preferred Qualifications: Current clinical practice knowledge, experience teaching, and familiarity with instructional technology.
