Trainer/Instructor II (Full-time) – 00164 Open until filled

Hiring Range: $32,619-$74,617 commensurate w/qualifications & experience

Responsibilities: John Tyler Community College is seeking a Trainer Instructor II to join our world class organization. The primary mission of this position is to manage and support the science laboratories at JTCC. Current science offerings include courses in biology, chemistry, microbiology, physics, and environmental science. The person in this position is responsible for ordering lab equipment and supplies, setting up and troubleshooting each week’s laboratory exercises, providing instructional support to full- and part-time faculty, supervising part-time lab staff members, and overseeing lab safety procedures and training. This person will work at both the Midlothian and Chester campuses and should have the ability to work a flexible schedule which could contain days, evenings, and/or weekends.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in a major related to the sciences preferred. Requires work experience in a laboratory setting, preferably at an educational institution. Demonstrated ability to conduct a variety of techniques and procedures related to preparation and maintenance of several instructional laboratories. Must have knowledge of standard biological, chemical, and microbiological operations, equipment, and OSHA regulations. Ability to strictly enforce adherence to safety rules. Ability to place orders for equipment and supplies and interact with vendors. Ability to supervise part-time lab staff members and student workers. Must have computer literacy and competency with basic software function, excellent communication skills, the ability to manage and use resources efficiently, and good interpersonal skills for working with a diverse population. Demonstrated ability to work independently and utilize good organizational skills. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check.
