Responsibilities: The Associate Dean of Advising serves as a member of the Division of Learning and Student Success. The individual will Coordinate the delivery of in-person and online Advising Center services at the Midlothian and Chester campuses including the supervision and evaluation of Advising Center staff responsible for academic and career planning, program placement, advising of new and returning students, the administration and interpretation of aptitude, career inventories, assessment instruments, as well as the development and review of weekly work schedules to provide for appropriate staff coverage of the Advising Centers. Train faculty and staff on procedures, guided pathways essential practices and programs to ensure Advising Center staff are providing academic planning and career exploration, and engage Advising Center staff in developing and implementing initiatives in line with College strategic plans and goals to include guided pathways essential practices. Make changes as called for by student demand and other circumstances, and assist in developing and coordinating advising services with a focus on guided pathways essential practices. Serve on college-wide committees, collaborate with academic deans and academic associate deans on enhancing and developing advising training programs for faculty advisors, academic/career advisors, and professional counselors, and collaborate with academic deans and academic associate deans on developing a college-wide advising plan to support student success. Coordinate and supervise the collection and maintenance of accurate records of students receiving Advising Center services, and coordinate response to early alert notifications. Manage the Midlothian and Chester Advising Center budgets. Remain current on College policies. May serve on the JTCC threat assessment team, Title IX review team, and/or Care team; if required to serve, must obtain and maintain mandated training. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of Students. Participate in appropriate professional development activities.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Master’s degree from accredited institution required. Prefer Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field. Five years of full-time experience in the profession of advising and/or counseling in an educational institution. Full-time administrative experience, including supervisory experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with persons from diverse social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. Ability to use standard office electronic communications and student information systems, with preference given to those proficient in the use of MS Office and PeopleSoft. The successful candidate will need to provide evening and occasional weekend coverage and to work at all College locations. The individual will also be required to supervise staff at multiple locations. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check required. Preferred Qualifications: Postsecondary administrative experience, especially in two-year colleges and an established record of leadership.
