Hiring Range: Commensurate with qualifications & experience

Responsibilities: John Tyler Community College is seeking a Coordinator of Academic Resource Center to provide leadership for developing and sustaining a tutoring program to improve student success and increase retention and graduation rates. This tutoring program will support students in both developmental and college-level classes, with emphasis on courses with low success rates.

The Coordinator will manage the Academic Resource Centers on both the Chester and Midlothian campuses. Duties include: recruit, hire, supervise, train, and evaluate full-time and part-time employees; work with academic units to develop tutoring priorities; create a supportive environment for students; assess and evaluate activities to gauge effectiveness; manage budgets and expenditures; develop, implement, and follow college policies and procedures; and perform other duties as required to meet goals and objectives.

Qualifications: Master’s degree and experience leading a tutoring program, managing personnel, and working in a higher education environment. The coordinator should have excellent communication skills and the abilities to assess program outcomes and manage a budget. The successful candidate must be willing to be flexible to work at any of the College’s locations. Successful completion and passing of a background check is required prior to employment.
