Registration for Spring 2014 Classes at John Tyler Community College Begins November 11

CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – Spring is in the air at John Tyler Community College – spring registration that is. Starting November 11, registration will get underway for the Spring 2014 semester, and students will have more than 1,500 classes to choose from, including English, math, chemistry, German, public speaking, exercise science, engineering, African American history, web page design, welding, and novel writing. So, whether students want to become more competitive in the workforce, start a new career, save money while working on a bachelor’s degree, or explore long-held interests, John Tyler has the classes and programs to meet their needs.

Tyler offers nearly 60 degree, certificate and career study certificate programs that build foundations for continuing education and for immediate employment. In addition, John Tyler provides a number of support services and resources designed to help students succeed, such as tutoring, veterans’ assistance, career counseling, advising, financial aid, and library services. The College also has guaranteed admissions agreements that give John Tyler graduates the ability to seamlessly continue their educations at more than 25 four-year colleges and universities. And, because scheduling flexibility is important, John Tyler offers courses during the day; in the evenings; on the weekends; in the classroom; online; in a hybrid format (taught partially online and partially in the classroom); and in various sessions, ranging from eight weeks to 16 weeks in length.  Those interested in exploring John Tyler Community College’s Spring 2014 class options may visit www.jtcc.edu/schedule.  On this page, courses may be sorted by subject, location, session length, and days of the week.

Starting November 11, students may register online at www.jtcc.edu, using the Student Information System in myTyler. They also may register in person at the Admissions and Records Office on either the Chester Campus, located at 13101 Jefferson Davis Highway, or the Midlothian Campus, located at 800 Charter Colony Parkway. Hours for in-person registration are as follows:

Chester Campus
Monday: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Midlothian Campus
Monday – Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Extended Hours on January 6-9, 2014 and January 13-16, 2014 (on both campuses)
8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

In-person registration will not be available from December 21, 2013 – January 1, 2014. During that time, Holiday Online Registration will be held. Students will be able to register online only at www.jtcc.edu/myTyler.

Those interested in attending John Tyler but not enrolled at the College must first submit an application for admission, and those who applied to the College but did not attend classes in the past year must reapply to John Tyler. The application for admission may be found online at www.jtcc.edu, or it may be picked up at the Chester or Midlothian campus. John Tyler Community College has an open door admissions policy, and there is no application fee.

Tuition and fees are $130.00 per credit hour for Virginia residents and $324.60 per credit hour for out-of-state residents. All students must pay a comprehensive fee of $35 per semester. During the General Registration period, tuition and fees must be paid by 5:00 p.m. of the week in which a student registers.  (Tuition Notes: Students who register November 23-26 must pay their tuition and fees by 5:00 p.m. on November 26. Students who register December 14-20 must pay their tuition and fees by 5:00 p.m. on December 20. Students who register during the College’s Holiday Online Registration period must pay their tuition and fees by 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2014.)

John Tyler Community College is a two-year, public institution of higher education and is the fifth largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia.
