Tribute to WWII Veterans

Posted on November 07, 2013

On Veterans Day, we remember and honor the men and women of the armed forces who bravely served and still serve our country. As part of our tribute, John Tyler Community College will hold a special showing of the documentary, “Honor Flight: One Last Mission.” The movie looks at four World War II veterans and how their community pulled together to give them an Honor Flight.

Honor Flights are trips in which volunteers fly World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. to see the memorial constructed in honor of them. With many of our World War II veterans now in their 80s and 90s, these trips are often a race against time.

Join us as we experience “Honor Flight: One Last Mission.” The movie will be shown at 7:00 p.m. in Hamel Hall, room H109, at the Midlothian Campus. Students, faculty, staff and members of the community are invited to attend. A preview of the documentary will be shown during the College’s Veterans Day Ceremony.
