While Thrive is officially considered a club at John Tyler, those of us who have been involved have discovered that it is more than that: it’s a community. A Thrive member explained recently, “Thrive has been the fellowship of believers that I have been looking for since I have been at school.” Every activity we plan and relationship we build is directly motivated by our belief in and passion for Jesus Christ, the son of God who changed everything when he came to earth. Because of the example Jesus gave while on earth, we give our best effort to assure that Thrive as open as possible, which has resulted in a diverse crowd. Some of our members are strong in their faith, while others want to discover if faith is worth having.
To effectively reach the variety of involved members, we have several weekly events. Our only consistent on-campus activity takes place every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Midlothian Campus (meeting locations vary), and we typically consume pizza, play an entertaining game, worship our awesome God, listen to a challenging message from the Bible, and sometimes, participate in service activities. Throughout the week, members of Thrive meet for off campus Bible studies. One Thrive member recently expressed that: “Thrive has meant for me making new friends and interpreting the Bible and connecting its stories with today.” I hope that you will consider joining us, no matter where you are at on your journey with God.
