New Vice President Joins John Tyler Community College

John Tyler Community College welcomes Dr. William “Bill” Fiege as the institution’s new vice president of Academic Affairs. Fiege brings with him more than 15 years of higher education experience. Before coming to John Tyler, he was an academic dean at Germanna Community College, taught speech communication at Germanna, and held numerous positions at Longwood University, where he gained experience in development, alumni relations and teaching. He has served in many professional and community groups and has conducted dozens of presentations, workshops and keynote addresses on topics ranging from advising and communications skills to customer service and humor in the workplace. Fiege holds a Doctorate in Community College Leadership from Old Dominion University, a Master of Arts in Speech Communication from Bloomsburg University, and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a Minor in Speech from Longwood University.
Fiege says he is excited to be at John Tyler Community College, which he describes as a fast-paced, energetic environment, dedicated to meeting the needs of its students and its community. “People here genuinely care about students and their successes,” says Fiege. He says he looks forward to working with the College’s faculty, staff and administrators to “help students meet their personal and professional goals.”
