Officers
- New Vice President – Jillian Mourtazakis
- Club Representative – Khiem Tran
New Building Opening & Show
Hanging for the grand opening of the new building of the “Green Show” will be Tuesday September 29 from 9am to 3pm (maybe later) any and all help would be appreciated.
Pizza Sales Canceled
Next week’s pizza sale has been canceled due to the fact there will be free food for the students and staff. We would like to have table for this event for the art club where instead of selling pizza, you would just be representing the art club and answering any questions. If it’s ok, the people who have already signed up for shifts will still work the shifts they signed up for, but we still need volunteers to fill the rest of the shifts, so please email me letting me know if you can work a shift.
JTCC Art Club
Welcome to the fall 2009 John Tyler Community College Art Club.
Art Club Officers
- President – Ian Glass
- Vice President – Open
- Treasurer – Khiem Tran
- Secretary – Richard Phelps
- Representative to the Student Counsel – Open
The position of Vice President and Representative are still open and need to be filled, if you have any questions about these positions and their responsibilities please fill free to ask any of the officers or Colin Ferguson. You can email your question to me at richardph@comcast.net and I will be glad to pass it along to Mr. Ferguson.
The Art Club will be continuing the Tuesday pizza sale, to raise funds for the New York trip in the spring semester.
Friday, September 4th there will be first Friday and the Art Club will be in front of meeting at Art 6 at 7pm. Hope to see you there. Any questions you can contact me or visit the website at: http://www.firstfridaysrichmond.com/.
If you are receiving this email then you are one of the lucky few who have been chosen to get it. However, if you no longer wish to receive emails from the John Tyler Art Club then just contact me and I will remove you from our email list. You will then be added to our psychic email list that will send the email to your brain directly while you sleep.
- Revive Challenge
- The Revive Challenge has been opened up to employers, civic and church groups, and other members of the community who wish to participate. From the website:
[Revive Challenge] teams will design and create a project from items that are at least 75 percent recycled, restored, or repurposed. Finished projects will be a part of a silent auction on April 18, 2009 when John Tyler and Chesterfield County partner to combine Fool for Art with Chesterfield County’s Environmental Fair. All funds raised at the auction will go to support student scholarships.
Many members of the Art Club have expressed interest in participating in the Revive Challenge. Contact cferguson@jtcc.edu if you would like to join in.
- New York
- Remember that Friday is the last day to sign up to attend the trip to New York. Active club members (those who have participated in at least four fundraising activities) save $50 off of the $180 price for other JTCC students. Mr. Ferguson will be on campus Friday to accept new enrollees; email him at cferguson@jtcc.edu to confirm a time he is available.
Also, the hotel we will stay at in New York has reduced the rates for rooms. The club still has not yet decided what to do with the surplus monies. - Portfolio Shoot
- Last week’s portfolio shoots went well, and we will schedule more later in the semester.
- Fool For Art
- Does the club wish to do something during Fool For Art, April 18th? Many ideas floated for the Revive Challenge would also work well as activities at Fool For Art.
- Terry Smith Art Show
- JTCC artist Terry Smith needs help to hang her show at Art Works next Monday (Feb. 27). Contact her at terry@eyesofthesoulart.net.
