Celebrate Our Earth Tent
In the Celebrate our Earth Tent, the community could:
- Learn how to make an environmental difference with Chesterfield County’s Anti-Litter Program, Adopt-A-Spot Team, the James River Advisory Council and Hands Across the Lake.
- See and hear how Fleet Management uses bio fuels and alternative fuel vehicles to keep the county running, and check-out the newest eco-friendly cars, including the Volt and Prius.
- Get turf tips for an environmentally friendly lawn.
- See the bulb crusher in action recycling fluorescent tubes.
- Discover green and healthy construction practices, like recycling renovation materials and debris.
- Visit the stream table and learn about water quality, as well as backyard composting with DEQ.
- Learn how the County’s Hazardous Material Team protects the environment.
- Discover environmental resources at the County’s libraries.
- Explore displays and tables on energy conservation, environmental engineering, watersheds and earth-friendly products.
- Protect and rehabilitate wildlife. Learn about the Prothonotary Warbler.
- Be smart and prevent medication abuse and poisoning. Plus, protect the environment.
- Play games and win prizes with Recycle the Clown!
- Shred your documents from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in Parking Lot D.
- Purchase your rain barrels ($55) and/or compost bins ($45) beginning at 10:00 a.m., while supplies last, in Parking Lot D. (No cash please – checks and credit cards will be accepted.)
