Celebrate Our Earth Tent
In 2010, the Celebrate our Earth Tent had this fun in store:
- Learn how to make an environmental difference in just 15 minutes with Chesterfield’s Anti-Litter Program.
- See and hear how Fleet Maintenance uses bio fuels and alternative fuel vehicles to keep the county running.
- Learn about backyard composting with the Department of Environmental Quality.
- Be smart and good to the planet when you learn how to properly dispose of hazardous household chemicals with the help of the environmental division.
- Discover the resources available at Chesterfield County’s public libraries, "your place for arts, culture and information."
- Explore displays and tables on energy, environmental engineering, watersheds and earth-friendly products. Plus, learn about solar and reusable energy.
- See how Kidz R Cookin, a traveling healthy cooking school, can plant the seeds of health in children, youth and families and get you in a "green routine."
- Get involved in watershed clean-up efforts with Friends of Chesterfield’s Riverfront.
- Hear about the cleanup events and efforts coordinated by the James River Advisory Council.
- Learn from Buildings and Grounds on ways to recycle bulbs, aerosol cans, Freon, plant material and paper.
- Explore local nature and activities with Parks and Recreation.
- Express your creativity by painting on the traveling community recycling dumpster!
- Shred your documents from 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. in parking lot D.
- Play games and win prizes with Recycle the Clown!
