At John Tyler, we offer a top-notch, affordable education, but covering the cost of tuition can still be difficult for our students. More than half cannot afford to go to John Tyler without scholarship assistance or financial aid. Thanks to generous donors, the Foundation offers more than 100 scholarships each year, but many more are needed. Increasing the number of student scholarships is one of the Foundation’s top priorities.
The John Tyler Community College Foundation is dedicated to providing scholarships to students with financial needs. Even though about 80 percent of our students work a full-time or part-time job, many students would never be able to attend college without this community support. The College’s scholarship program helps reduce the financial burden on these students.
The gift of an endowed scholarship guarantees that a scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student or students each and every year, in perpetuity. The cost of endowing a scholarship is $30,000, yielding approximately $1,200 per year to cover tuition, books and fees for a full-time or a part-time student.
There is also opportunity to set up scholarships on an annual basis. Annual scholarship donors determine their conditions of establishment, and the Foundation helps determine the ideal recipient.
Paying for college can be difficult, but there are opportunities for financial help. Thanks to the generosity of supportive donors, the John Tyler Community College Foundation offers more than 100 scholarships to deserving students each year.
