Virtual Tour of Midlothian Science Building

  • Materials-Recycling Centers

    Recycling Centers

As you walk around the building, you will notice recycling centers on each floor. These collection points are part of a College-wide recycling program called Revive and are set up to remind those passing by that placing glass, plastic, aluminum and paper in these bins is a simple way to become eco-friendly.

  • Materials-Using Recycled Materials

    Using Recycled Materials

Take a look at the carpets and walls in the building. Believe it or not, all contain high percentages of recycled content. So does the concrete. Fly ash, a byproduct of coal burning, was used in the concrete mixture. When measured in cost, 24% of the building materials come from recycled material.

  • Materials-Construction Recycling

    Construction Recycling

It’s hard not to notice when you drive by a construction site – big dumpsters full of trash and other construction waste. But, not here. During this project, 92%, or 1,042 tons, of the construction waste was diverted from landfills and sent to recycling centers.
