Virginia Community College System

John Tyler Community College is a part of the Virginia Community College System. The system's mission is to provide comprehensive higher education and workforce training programs and services of superior quality, that are financially and geographically accessible, and that meet individual, business, and community needs of the Commonwealth.

Accreditation

John Tyler Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to offer associate degrees. In 2002, the College completed a self-study and accreditation visit as one of eight pilot institutions in the southeastern United States that are assisting SACS in redefining the accreditation process. The College received accreditation for the next 10 years from SACS in December 2002.
