  • John Tyler Community College’s enrollment (measured by headcount) for the spring 2009 semester grew more than 11% over the spring 2008 semester, making John Tyler one of the fastest growing colleges in the Virginia Community College System
  • 81% of students are part-time. 19% are full-time
  • 62% of students are female. 38% are male.
  • John Tyler students transfer to colleges and universities such as James Madison University, University of Richmond, University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Tech, and the College of William and Mary to complete their bachelor’s degrees.

Faculty and Staff:

  • About 500 faculty and staff members serve our students each semester
  • Courses at the College have an average class size of 19, giving faculty ample time to interact with students

  • For every dollar invested in John Tyler, nearly $3.80 is returned to Virginia’s economy.
  • For 2008-09, tuition and fees for a full academic year at John Tyler averaged $2,634 compared to $7,582 for undergraduate work at a Virginia public four-year college or university.

Community Involvement:

  • Faculty, staff and students of the College regularly participate in community service projects throughout the year, including collecting gifts and volunteering for Angel Tree, conducting blood drives for Virginia Blood Services, participating in Habitat for Humanity, and taking part in the American Heart Association Heart Walk.
