| What is Blackboard? |
|
Blackboard is a software program that makes it possible for faculty to deliver entire courses online or to supplement traditional on-campus classes with online content. Blackboard allows instructors to put their syllabi, lecture notes, PowerPoint presentations, and assignments online for students to access at anytime. The program also includes interactive features, such as discussion boards and virtual chat rooms, which enhance communication between students and faculty. All online courses at John Tyler use Blackboard, and some on-campus courses also use the program. If you are taking an on-campus course, your instructor will inform you if your class will use Blackboard. Please do not expect to see any course you registered for in Blackboard until the first day of class. If you registered for a course and then withdrew from it, you may have access to that Blackboard course until the instructor withdraws you from it. Please do not interpret this to mean that you are still registered for the course. To access Blackboard, you will need to log in to myTyler. |
