Curriculum Placement Procedures

If you would like to be placed in a particular degree, certificate or career studies certificate program, you will need to complete the following steps:

  • During your appointment, your counselor will discuss your future plans and your program options.  The counselor will then confirm you are eligible for curriculum placement, and if you are, complete a Curriculum Placement Form.  You will receive one copy of the form, and additional copies will be forwarded to the Office of the Vice President of Academic and Student Services, your advisor, and the Admissions and Records Office.  Included on this form are the name of your advisor, your advisor’s office location, and advisor’s telephone number.
  • If you are a new student being curriculum placed, your counselor will help you register for classes for your first semester. He or she will also let you know that it is your responsibility to make an appointment with your academic advisor before you register for classes in future semesters. You may not self-advise and register for classes unless your advisor grants you that authorization.
  • If you are a transfer student, the Admissions and Records Office will evaluate your transcripts when they receive their copy of your Curriculum Placement Form.
  • When the Vice President of Academic and Student Services receives his copy of your Curriculum Placement Form, he will send you a letter, welcoming you to the curriculum and noting the name and contact information of your advisor.  The letter will also detail your responsibilities in the advising process.
