Self-Assessment Tools
Self-assessments are valuable to students who are unsure of their career path, looking to change careers, or examine their characteristics, interests, values and skills. In the Career Resource Centers, you may use DISCOVER, a comprehensive computer-based system with an online assessment of interests, abilities and values. Multimedia features of DISCOVER include videos, graphics, photos, audio clips and hyperlinks to selected school and occupational web sites, resume sites, and job banks. Over 12,000 job classifications are presented in DISCOVER.

Enrolled students also may participate in more in-depth career assessments by completing individualized interest and personality assessments and follow-up interviews and interpretation. The Strong Interest Inventory provides a detailed interest profile based on vocational types such as artistic, social, or enterprising. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a personality inventory reporting preferences on scales such as extraversion/introversion.

Research Tools
The Career Center encourages students to explore potential careers in a number of ways, including self-assessments, internships, volunteer work, elective coursework, and career shadowing.  There are also a number of excellent online resources available to students:
