Annual Fund Founder’s Society

The Annual Fund & the New Founder’s Society
The Annual Fund is the cornerstone of John Tyler Community College’s giving program. Annual Fund dollars work hard to support student scholarships, attract excellent instructors, provide state-of-the-art equipment, and fund quality academic programs. Every dollar invested in John Tyler brings almost three dollars back to the community – a wise investment in this tough economy, an investment that stays in your own backyard.

The Founder’s Society
As part of Annual Fund giving, John Tyler is excited to offer an affordable, new giving society – The Founder’s Society. Members invest a dollar for every year since the College’s founding in 1967. Each year, Founder’s Society members will add one dollar to their donations. Many schools offer similar giving opportunities, and the reasonably priced Founder’s Society option is an affordable way for first-time donors to join the John Tyler Community College family of annual contributors. Current Founder’s Society members are listed below.

Why support the Annual Fund?
One good reason to give is simply because you care and want to help a future generation of students. Tuition and fees do not cover the full cost of educating a John Tyler student—far from it. State cut-backs have left few dollars for student aid and extras beyond the bare bones College operating costs. Your investment will help close the coverage gap by funding scholarships for deserving students.

Another good reason to give to the Annual Fund is that you believe in the mission of Virginia’s community colleges. Our doors are open to everyone, and for 42 years John Tyler has taken great pride in helping citizens of all ages and from all walks of life find a better quality of life through education. The College continues to help citizens grow and re-tool for new careers and has earned its reputation as a respected, academic resource for the community.

In part, because of community support, John Tyler continues to be one of the fastest-growing colleges in the 23-member Virginia Community College System. We rank third in service-area size and, including our workforce initiatives, serve more 34,500 students and more than 700 companies and government agencies. Quality education at an affordable price is what we’re noted for, and new articulation agreements that ensure our students seamless transfer to four-year state colleges and universities make John Tyler even more attractive.

Fall 2009 will usher in the opening of our new math and science building on the Midlothian Campus, as well as the launching of an historic program with the University of Virginia’s School of Engineering, allowing students to earn a UVA engineering degree from the John Tyler campus. Newly renovated Godwin Hall on the Chester Campus is also evidence that strong leadership and a generous community continue to make good things happen for the College.

If you want to continue to help John Tyler students and boost the economic good health of the community, please donate online or mail your contribution to the John Tyler Community College Foundation Office at:

All gifts, regardless of size, are greatly appreciated and fully tax deductible. If you choose to join the Founder’s Society, your name will be added to the list below.

If you believe in John College Community College and its mission to offer all citizens access to an affordable, quality education, before the year’s end, please consider a gift to the Annual Fund. Thank you.
