Mark your calendar now for John Tyler Community College’s 15th Annual Literary Festival. The Festival will run March 1-4 and will feature a variety of workshops, readings and performances. Plus, special guest Darnell Arnoult, poet and author of the acclaimed novel Sufficient Grace, will join us for a series of readings.

A Night of Scribbles: A revival of last year’s success, Scribbles, and the premiere of The Ripple Effect. One-man performance by Ryan Tiller, 7:00 p.m., Midlothian Campus, Science Building, C109

Thursday, March 4

Gallery talk by Carlie Collier on Muses: A Tribute to Mature Women Who Live Creative Lives, 5:00 p.m. Midlothian Campus, Science Building, C109

Darnell Arnoult Reading, Reception and Book Signing: 6:00 p.m., Midlothian Campus, Science Building, C109. Attendees are encouraged to bring “gently used” paperback books for the Richmond Read Center.

The John Tyler Community College Literary Festival is part of Minds Wide Open: Virginia Celebrates Women in the Arts. This statewide celebration will feature thousands of special events between March and June 2010.

Ready to Apply for Nursing?

If you have taken your nursing pre-requisites and are ready to apply to become a nursing student at John Tyler Community College, below are several upcoming informational sessions you’ll want to know about.

General information sessions for students interested in the JTCC Traditional, LPN/paramedic to RN transition, and hybrid distance education tracks will be held on the following dates and times:

  • Wednesday, January 6, 2010 – 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., Midlothian Campus, Room C109
  • Wednesday, February 3, 2010 – 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., Midlothian Campus, Room C109
  • Wednesday, March 3, 2010 – 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., Midlothian Campus, Room C109
  • Wednesday, April 7, 2010 – 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., Midlothian Campus, Room C109
  • Wednesday, May 5, 2010 –1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., Midlothian Campus, Room C109

Attendance at one of these sessions is mandatory for all applicants to the nursing program. Reservations are not required.
