John Tyler Community College to hold Veterans Day Ceremony

CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – The community is invited to join John Tyler Community College’s faculty, staff and students as they honor past and present members of the armed services during the College’s annual Veterans Day ceremony. The program will take place at 11:00 a.m. on November 11, 2009 in the Science Building, room C109, at the College’s Midlothian Campus, located at 800 Charter Colony Parkway. Admission is free.

Navy Rear Adm. Vincent L. Griffith will deliver the keynote address. Rear Adm. Griffith commands Defense Supply Center Richmond, Defense Logistics Agency’s aviation demand and supply chain manager. Before he joined Defense Supply Center Richmond in June, Rear Adm. Griffith most recently served as force supply officer of Commander, Naval Air Forces, San Diego. His sea duty assignments included a tour aboard the USS Saratoga as the stock control, financial/budget officer and automated data processing officer. He also served aboard the USS Stonewall Jackson and the USS John C. Stennis.


In addition to the keynote address, faculty, staff and student veterans will also be recognized. They, along with all those in attendance, will be invited to share their reflections on Veterans Day. The event will conclude with a memorial tree planting.
