Registration for Spring Classes at John Tyler Community College begins in November

CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – In today’s competitive job market it’s more important than ever to have a college education. But, many people interested in attending college are concerned about the cost and wonder how they can fit classes into their busy lives. John Tyler Community College can help. It’s affordable; tuition and fees at John Tyler run about one-third of what is charged at four year public institutions in Virginia. The College offers a variety of classes and programs that will give students the education and training they need to be competitive. And, classes are offered at various times – during the day, at night, on the weekend and online – to meet students’ schedule needs. And thanks to guaranteed transfer agreements, John Tyler graduates who wish to continue their education and who meet certain criteria are able to seamlessly transfer to more than 25 four-year colleges and universities in Virginia.

General Registration for the Spring 2010 semester at John Tyler Community College gets underway November 9, 2009, and will continue through December 22, 2009. A complete list of courses may be found at www.jtcc.edu/schedule. Students already enrolled at the College are encouraged to register online using the Student Information System found at www.jtcc.edu/myTyler. They also may register in person at either the Chester Campus, located at 13101 Jefferson Davis Highway, or the Midlothian Campus, located at 800 Charter Colony Parkway. Hours for in-person registration are as follows:

Chester Campus
Monday: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Midlothian Campus
Monday – Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Individuals interested in attending John Tyler but not enrolled at the College must first submit an Application for Admission. Those who applied to the College but did not attend classes in the past year must reapply to John Tyler. The Application for Admission may be found online at www.jtcc.edu, or it may be picked up at the Chester or Midlothian campuses. There is no application fee.

John Tyler Community College is a two-year, public institution of higher education and is the fifth largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia. With campuses in Chester and Midlothian and off-campus classrooms throughout the area, John Tyler offers quality and economical opportunities for students who want to earn a degree or certificate, transfer to a four-year college or university, train for the workforce, or switch careers. The College, which served more than 12,600 students during the 2008 – 09 academic year, offers 18 associate degrees, six certificates and 36 career studies certificates. The institution also serves 22,000 non-credit students and more than 800 companies and government agencies annually through the Community College Workforce Alliance. John Tyler Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
