Secondary Media Contact: For Immediate Release: November 11, 2009 CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – John Tyler Community College’s two chapters of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Tau Rho and Beta Omicron Omicron, recently welcomed 79 new members during receptions held on November 3, 2009 and November 5, 2009. Phi Theta Kappa is an organization that recognizes the academic achievements of community and junior college students. The organization’s hallmarks are service, leadership, fellowship and scholarship. To be eligible for membership in John Tyler Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa chapters, a student must have completed at least 15 hours of coursework and must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (3.75 if the student has completed less than 30 credits). The new members of each chapter are as follows (zip codes appear in parentheses): Tau Rho Chapter (operated on the Chester Campus)
