Blackboard Content System
e-Portfolios
What is an e-Portfolio?
An
e-Portfolio, (electronic portfolio), is an online
site that can be used to highlight the activities of
an individual or organization. The portfolio
can contain text, documents, pictures, links to
items in the Content System, and links to other web
sites. Over thirty templates, (i.e. Awards,
Community Service, Resumé, References, etc.), are
also available to allow users to quickly create a
specific page in the portfolio. e-Portfolios
can be shared with others in the VCCS as well as
those who do not have a Blackboard account
Dateline 2009 calls for greater involvement of
students in college life. e-Portfolios are an
effective way for these groups to present themselves
to the community. Students can share in the
responsibility of maintaining the e-Portfolio by
creating material and sending it to the person
creating the site.
Note:
At this time, students cannot create e-Portolios; only college employees are able to
do so.
Examples of Uses
-
Faculty and staff advisors can create
e-Portfolios to highlight the activities and
accomplishments of clubs, organizations, and
teams. Announcements, events,
photos, and contact information can be
maintained for group members or others at
the college.
-
e-Portfolios can act as online brochures for
academic departments.
Tutorials
Note:
If you do not already have
Flash Player installed on your
computer, you will need to download it before
viewing the animations. The animations are
best viewed at a screen resolution of 1024x768 or
higher; if your resolution is 800x600, you will have
to scroll to see the entire image. A control bar at the
bottom of the page will allow you to pause, rewind,
and replay each animation if needed.
The tutorials should be viewed in order as each builds
upon the previous one.
