Welcome! You have found Phi Theta Kappa at John Tyler Community College. Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honor Society for two year colleges. The Chester Campus of John Tyler Community College is the home of the Tau Rho Chapter.

What are the Membership Requirements?

Membership in the Tau Rho Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa is extended to all John Tyler Community College students who:

  • Are enrolled in a degree program
  • Have completed at least 24 credit hours of course work that can be applied toward an associate degree
  • Fall into one of the groups below:
    1. Students with 24-45 semester credits must:
      • Be enrolled full-time or part-time at the college
      • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75
    2. Students who have earned more than 45 semester credits must:
      • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
      • Be full-time or part-time students
  • Once members, students must maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA to remain in good standing with the society
