The Blood Drive will run from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in Hamel hall, H109.
PTK-BOO members who commit for at least 1 hour will receive a complimentary t-shirt from the chapter to wear during volunteer times! Volunteers will assist the American Red Cross works with welcoming and starting the registration for donors. You will not be handling personal health information or equipment.

Do you know a Tyler student and/or family that struggles with the holiday season? The History Club and the BOO chapter of Phi Theta Kappa are looking for families in need of a Thanksgiving meal this November. The student organizations will be providing a turkey dinner and the traditional holiday fixings to Tyler families in need. If you would like to nominate a fellow student (or yourself!) to receive a holiday meal courtesy of the History Club and BOO, please contact Tracey Bailey with the Dean of Students office to submit a nomination.
Nominations must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by November 11th to be considered for the Thanksgiving Meal. Please include the student’s name, ID number, and the number of people in their family.
Want to help a Tyler family this holiday season? Donate traditional holiday food items to the Thanksgiving Food Drive sponsored by the History Club and the BOO chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. We are seeking the following types of non-perishable food items to donate this Thanksgiving:
- Canned vegetables and fruits
- Boxed stuffing
- Mashed potatoes
- Gravy mix or canned gravy
- Holiday dessert items
- Gift cards or donations towards food purchases
Donation boxes are located at both campuses! Find the Chester donation box in Moyar, M131. The Midlothian boxes are located in Hamel in the second floor lobby and in Eliades, E320. Donations must be received by November 14, 2016.
The first Members’ Meeting for the fall 2016 semester will be held on Wednesday, September 21st at 4:00 p.m. in Hamel hall, H112. Please join your PTK-BOO officers and advisors for planning and brainstorming for the coming year. The meeting will address:
- Upcoming blood drives events with the American Red Cross
- New member recruitment
- Fall activities for community outreach
The first meeting will also be a chance to meet your fellow PTK scholars and see what ideas and projects the club has in store for fall and spring! There will be food and refreshments to help break the ice, so please join us!

The blood drive will be held on Tuesday, September 13th from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in Hamel Hall, H109 on the Midlothian campus. You can schedule your donation time at http://www.redcrossblood.org (sponsor code: JTCC) or call the American Red Cross at 1-800- RED CROSS (733-2767). Walk ins will also be accepted as time permits.

Each candidate has provided a brief biography and their interest in becoming a leader of BOO. Please select a candidate for each position listed. Your votes are kept anonymous; however, the chapter advisors must verify PTK-BOO membership by collecting your myTyler username. Voter information will be deleted once membership is verified to guarantee anonymity.

Please join the BOO chapter for our final spring 2016 meeting/end of year party. The last meeting is on Friday, April 29th at 3:30 p.m. in the T-building, room T218. This meeting will wrap up all spring 2016 business and announce the officers for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Refreshments will be provided by the chapter. Please come to have a slice of pizza and chat with your fellow members. The chapter will also start brainstorming for the fall 2016 semester!
Any last minutes questions about graduation? Mrs. Gonzalez will go over all the appropriate PTK regalia that you can wear to celebrate commencement!
Thank You Notes and Supplies for Our Troops! April 18th – 29th, 2016 2nd floor of Hamel Hall
Join PTK’s BOO chapter in collecting items for our troops serving overseas:
- Baby wipes (moist towelettes)
- Feminine products
- Hand/foot warmers
- Face tissue
- Foot powder
- Chewing gum, breath mints
- Lip balm, chapstick
- Tooth brushes
- Tooth paste
- Deodorant (solid only)
- Non-aerosol shaving cream
In addition to the toiletry donations, please take the time to sign a thank you card to include in the care packages. Donations will be sent to the Blue Star Families of Richmond. This organization will help to find the troops that are in need of care packages and ship the packages on BOO’s behalf. 2016-2017 Officer Nominations and Elections
If you are interested in becoming an officer for the 2016-2017 school year, please send Ms. Gonzalez an official nomination via email by Tuesday, April 19th. Within your nomination, please provide a brief biography about yourself to include with the ballot. We want members to know more about candidates, so please provide whatever information you are comfortable sharing with the entire BOO chapter. Elections will run via online voting from Monday, April 25th – Thursday, April 28th. The officers will be announced at the meeting on Friday, April 29th. If you would like more information on the different positions available and the responsibilities for each position, please refer to the BOO by laws.
