Welcome back PTK-BOO members! Fall semester has started and so has PTK! Our first event for the fall 2015 is the blood drive with the Virginia Blood Services on September 22nd from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in Hamel hall, H109.
To get this event rolling, we will have a registration table outside of the Midlothian library for the week leading up to the drive. Please encourage your classmates and instructors to consider donating! For more information about the drive, contact Mrs. Gonzalez at email@example.com.
We are also looking for officers for this school year. If you are interested in becoming President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer, please contact either of your advisors to learn more about each position.

Please join the PTK-BOO chapter for the Members’ Meeting on Friday, March 20th at 2:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in Hamel hall, room H110.
All members are welcome to attend. We will be discussing the following events:
- Induction Ceremony Make-up: Friday, April 3rd at 6:30 p.m. in the Nicholas Center (Chester campus). More information will be distributed on the induction ceremony soon.
- Club Carnival- April 9th. More information coming soon.
- Fool for Art- Saturday, April 18th from 10:00 – 4:00 p.m. We need as many volunteers as possible to help with the button making station.
- Commit to Complete- spring campaign. At the March 20th meeting, we will set dates for a spring C2C campaign.
If you have ideas for future projects, please come ready to share. If you are unable to attend the meeting, but would like to share your ideas, please send them to the chapter advisors.

Due to icy conditions on campus, the induction ceremony scheduled for this evening, Friday, March 6th, has been cancelled.
The chapter advisors are working with Student Activities to find a make-up date. More information will be distributed once it is available.

Please join the Beta Omicron Omicron chapter in our Members’ Meeting on Friday, February 6th at 2:00 p.m. in room H110, Hamel hall. All BOO members are welcome to attend.
The chapter will be planning for the Commit to Complete events on February 17th and 25th. We will be recovering our Commit to Complete board, so any additional help is greatly appreciated.
The chapter will also discuss upcoming events like Relay for Life and Fool for Art.

PTK-BOO has opened the spring 2015 recruitment period. To help inform prospective members about the benefits of joining PTK, the Beta Omicron Omicron chapter will host three orientation sessions to explain the advantages of membership, how to join, and answer any questions eligible students have about the honors society.
The orientation sessions will be held on:
- Monday, 1/26 at 2:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, 1/27 at 5:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, 1/28 at 1:00 p.m.
These orientations are open to all prospective members who received and invitation to join Phi Theta Kappa. If you feel you should have received an invitation to join, but did not, please contact Ms. Channell or Mrs. Luebke as soon as possible to find out if you are eligible to join.
Current members- if you would like to attend a session to speak with prospective members about your experience with PTK, please join us. You are not required to attend, but welcome to join!
Want to lend a hand to your local community? How about an arm instead! Help BOO and the Virginia Blood Services with our next blood drive on Wednesday, January 28th!
The VA Blood Services will be on the Midlothian campus in Hamel hall, H109 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. taking donations. If you would like to sign-up in advance, please stop by the registration table outside of the Midlothian library on the second floor of Hamel hall. Walk-ins will be accepted as well.
BOO members can also help by staffing the registration table next week through the day before the drive (Tuesday, January 27). Simply asking people to sign-up drastically increases our numbers of pre-registrations and donors. Swing by the table whenever you have spare time to encourage folks to register to give. Remember, BOO members who volunteer five hours will receive their PTK tassel for free!

Reminder- if you would like to donate items to our Angel Tree program, please remember to drop off all donations by Wednesday, December 3rd to Ms. Channell in the Midlothian campus library. See the Angel Tree post for more details.
We have received our Angel! If you are not familiar with Angel Tree, it is a chance for us to share the holiday spirit with others in the community who are less fortunate. The program helps provide local children with gifts for the holidays.
PTK-BOO has sponsored RicKylah, a four year old girl. She would like to have a bike, Doc McStuffins and Dora toys and books, and a baby doll with hair. Her parents have listed her needs as clothing, shoes, and underwear. RicKylah’s sizes are:
- pants: size 9 in girls
- shirts: size 8/9 in girls
- shoes: size 9 in youth
If you would like to donate items to RicKylah, please bring them to Ms. Channell in the Midlothian library.
