Thanksgiving Food Drive

thanksgiving meal Want to help fellow John Tyler families this November?  Do your part by donating holiday food items to the Beta Omicron Omicron chapter’s Thanksgiving Food Drive.

PTK-BOO is collecting holiday staples to help provide four JTCC families with a holiday meal. BOO will buy the turkeys, but we need donations for side and dessert items.

BOO is looking to collect the following types of food:

  • Canned vegetables and fruits
  • Instant mashed potatoes
  • Canned gravy or gravy mix
  • Dessert items
  • Stuffing
  • Other holiday staples

Do you know of a family (including your own) that is in need of some assistance this holiday season?  If so, please contact the Dean of Students, Sandra Kirkland, to nominate a family.

If you would like to donate food items, please place items in the donation box outside the library in Hamel hall.  You can also leave items with Molli Channell inside the library.  Donations will be accepted until Friday, November 21st.

Thank you for your support!

Relay for Life 4/4/14

Join the Beta Omicron Omicron chapter of Phi Theta Kappa in supporting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event on Friday, April 4, 2014.  The event will be held at the University of Richmond’s Weinstein Gym from 6:00p.m. to 6:00a.m.

The timing of Relay for Life represents a person’s journey through their cancer diagnosis. The evening starts the event as the sunlight begins to dim at dusk and continues through the night, or the darkest stages of cancer.  The light of a new day represents the beginning of their life beyond cancer.  Relay for Life also celebrates those lost to cancer, those still battling, and the caregivers that support their loved ones. This event is truly special for all of those who have ever battled cancer or loved someone who has faced this disease. Proceeds from your registration goes towards supporting cancer research.

To register or to donate to this event, visit the Relay for Life page.  BOO’s team name is John Tyler Comm College Phi Theta Kappa Society and team registration is $10.00.  All PTK members are encouraged to register for the JTCC team.  Family and friends are welcome to join as well!  For more information, please contact Molli Channell or Dr. John Kirn.
