Literature Circles/Sherwood Forest

Student activities at John Tyler are about more than just clubs. The College also offers student the opportunity to participate in literature circles in the fall and spring semesters and an annual literary review.

Literature Circles
The College’s Literature Circles are informal groups that select several books to read each semester. The groups then get together for relaxed, wide-ranging discussions of the books. Participants are welcome to read just one or all of the books selected each semester.

To learn more, contact one of the Literature Circle coordinators: Penny Speidel at pspeidel@jtcc.edu or 804-706-5135, Judy Johnson at jjohnson@jtcc.edu or 804-706-5124, or Mattie Coll at mcoll@jtcc.edu or 804-594-1499.

Sherwood Forest Art & Literary Review
The Sherwood Forest Art & Literary Review is an annual publication of John Tyler Community College that has highlighted the creativity and talent of John Tyler students since the 1970s. Each January, students submit entries in the categories of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry and art. Judges review and select first, second and third place winners in each category. Honorable mention awards may be given if the judges choose to recognize additional entries. The winning entries are published in the Review.
