Hiring Range: $15.00-$30.00 Hourly (commensurate w/qualifications & experience)

John Tyler Community College invites applications for multiple part-time Career Coach positions serving James River High School, Prince George High School, Thomas Dale High School and additional high schools in the Tyler service area. This is a partially grant-funded position of up to 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities: Career Coaches will work in Tyler service-are high schools for the purpose of guiding students in their academic and career planning. The coach assists students with college applications, completion of FAFSA forms, and VPT testing. The Coach works with students individually and in small groups to determine career interests using EMSI Career Coach and the Virginia Wizard. Additional responsibilities may include: organizing related school activities, workshops, and assisting students with scholarship applications. The Career Coach will represent John Tyler Community College at local community events and school related functions.

Qualifications: Required: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and organizational skills required. Ability to use technology to support department goals and objectives. Must be able to work at both of the College's campuses and travel within the entire College's service region. Must be able to work a somewhat flexible schedule that includes evening and weekends. Must be able to work with high school students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check will be required.
Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. Knowledge of database management and recruiting best practices. Prior experience with secondary counseling, career planning, or higher education recruiting is preferred.
