Hiring Range: $11.50 Hourly

Responsibilities: John Tyler Community College invites applicants to apply for part-time professional tutor position to serve students in the Academic Resource Center (ARC) at both campuses. This position has a maximum of 29 hours per week. The professional tutor will work on the Chester and/or the Midlothian campuses to assist students in English and/or math and science courses. Professional tutor may work one-on-one with students or in a small group setting. Professional tutor will act as a resource for student tutors. Will work with staff to develop training materials related both to particular subject matter and to tutoring practices as a whole. Professional tutor will maintain a calm, tidy, professional environment.

Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Associate’s degree or higher strongly preferred. Prior tutoring experience required. Experience in an educational setting, preferably in high school or college, strongly preferred. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work days, evenings and weekends at either of the JTCC campuses, as needed. Successful completion and passing of criminal background check is required. PREFERRED: Experience with software such as TutorTrac. Experience working in an academic resource center or equivalent.
