Responsibilities: Twelve-month administrative faculty position to provide leadership and support for John Tyler Community College's Nursing programs including Nurse Aide, Practical Nursing and Nursing-RN programs. Responsibilities include day-to-day oversight; evaluation and supervision of full-and part-time nursing faculty; oversight, assessment, scheduling of courses and curricula; academic advising and remedial support for students; ensuring that the nursing programs meet the requirements of the Virginia Board of Nursing and the accreditation standards of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN); representing John Tyler's nursing program to the community; maintaining strong positive relationships with external agencies for clinical practice; and preparing faculty and students for the future of nursing in Virginia. This position reports to the Dean of Science, Health and Human Services and is located in Bird Hall on the Chester campus.
Qualifications: Required: Master’s degree in nursing; eligibility for licensure in Virginia and a current, active, unrestricted license to practice as an RN. Demonstrates a strong commitment to associate degree nursing education and academic progression in nursing; demonstrated ability to provide leadership in instruction, curriculum development, and student and faculty evaluation. Exceptional leadership skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of ACEN standards and the VA Board of Nursing regulations is expected. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check will be required. Preferred: Experience teaching at the post- secondary college level; current clinical practice knowledge and experience teaching.
