Hiring Range: Salary and rank commensurate with experience and education
General Information: Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester. These limits are for total number of credit hours taught in the Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending upon other positions occupied within VCCS.
We currently seek part-time faculty to teach high school dual enrollment or evening campus courses in Engineering. Content covered may include introduction to the engineering profession, engineering problem solving techniques using computer software, statics, and mechanics of materials.
Responsibilities: The Division of Engineering, Business, and Public Services at John Tyler Community College augments full-time teaching faculty with qualified part-time instructors to enhance the student learning process. Part-time faculty are expected to maintain classroom records, teach required content, complete assessments of student learning outcomes, and adhere to college policies.
Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in Engineering or related field. Two years of related work experience. Ability to use instructional technologies. Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communications skills. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s in Mechanical Engineering.
