Hiring Range: $33,598-$50,000 (commensurate w/qualifications & experience)

Responsibilities: The College seeks to hire a Library Specialist II for the Midlothian Campus of John Tyler Community College (JTCC). The successful candidate Provides library reference and information services to the college community. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Midlothian Library. Instructs classes, works extensively one-on-one with students, and provides library support to faculty, both in person and online. Provides general support with circulation, answering basic computer and technology questions. Recruits, trains and coordinates student assistants. Works with library director and librarians to plan and implement library programs, engagement activities, assessment, marketing, and public relations. Coordinates interlibrary loan for the Midlothian library. Supports general college activities, as requested. Position is located at the Midlothian campus. Schedule will generally be from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday-Friday; some evenings or nights until 9 pm, or, Saturdays, may be required.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma (or equivalent) required. Reference experience in a library. Experience working with the general public in a library. Strong commitment to excellent customer service. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively, efficiently and independently in a highly technological and team-oriented environment, with minimal supervision. Basic Microsoft Office skills. Ability to welcome change. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check. PREFERRED: Instructional experience in an academic setting. Experience locating and using online resources, which may include e-books, blogs, databases, social media and streaming video. Familiarity with integrated library systems and OCLC ILL module.
