An Opportunity for Tyler’s Student Artists and Writers

Posted on November 18, 2019

By Holly Walker

Would you like to see your writings or artwork in print? If so and you are a current Tyler student, consider entering the college’s 2020 Sherwood Forest Art and Literary Competition. The competition is currently accepting submissions in four categories:

  • Art (including photography)
  • Fiction
  • Creative non-fiction
  • Poetry

Students may submit entries in multiple categories.  Rules for each category may be found at

All entries must be submitted electronically to Michael Gray, associate professor of English, at by no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2020. Each entry must include the student’s EmplID.

Those who place first, second and third in the competition will have their work published in the Sherwood Forest Art and Literary Review, will receive a prize, and will be recognized at the college's Annual Awards Night Ceremony held during the Spring 2020 semester. Submissions receiving honorable mention may also be published if space is available.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Gray at or 804-594-1481.
