CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – All middle and high school students, as well as members of the community are invited to explore college and career options through a virtual, on-demand experience. Now through December 9, 2020, participants may access the Virtual Education and Career Fair and visit one or more of the 20 virtual college booths; 40 virtual employer booths that represent a variety of industries including business, IT, healthcare, manufacturing, and education; and a resource center designed for high school students preparing for college.

There is no cost to attend, but those interested in participating must register at https://event.vconferenceonline.com/microsite/html/event.aspx?id=1604 to log into the fair. Once registered, attendees may visit the virtual booths at the times that are most convenient for them, and they may log in to the fair multiple times through December 9.

The Virtual Education and Career Fair sponsored by the Career and Education Consortium (CEC) was developed in consultation with high schools in Amelia, Charles City, Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie, Hopewell, Petersburg Prince George, Surry, and Sussex. The CEC, formerly known as the Partnership to Ensure Educational Reform (PEER), coordinates ongoing collaboration between John Tyler Community College; public school divisions; employers; universities; state and local government; and the community-at-large to offer high-quality academic programs and career preparation for all students in the region.

Questions about the fair may be directed to Heather Taylor, Career and Education Consortium coordinator, at htaylor@jtcc.edu

John Tyler Community College offers more than 75 majors that provide pathways to careers in high-demand fields; transfer opportunities to four-year colleges and universities; and industry credentials and licensures. The college, with campuses in Chester and Midlothian, online classes, and off-campus classrooms, served more than 13,600 students during the 2019-20 academic year. It also assisted more than 9,000 learners through its workforce development division, Community College Workforce Alliance, a partnership between Tyler and Reynolds community colleges.
