CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – Explore the paths you can take to get the career you want during John Tyler Community College’s two upcoming Modern Makers Open House events. At Modern Makers, you can tour Tyler’s high-tech and creative learning spaces; find out how cutting-edge simulators and hands-on learning prepare students for the workforce; and discuss which programs and classes best align with your interests and goals. Plus, you’ll have the chance to talk to representatives from local businesses about the skills they are looking for when they hire new employees and to four-year college and university partners about the pathways Tyler graduates can take to a bachelor’s degree and beyond. Tyler staff and faculty also will be on hand to answer questions about majors, admissions, paying for college, veterans benefits and more, as well as to provide help to anyone who is ready to get started on an application for admission or who wants to sign up for Spring 2018 classes.

Career fields that will be highlighted at both Modern Makers events include healthcare, business, IT, engineering and science. The Chester Campus event also will provide an up-close look at Tyler’s programs related to advanced manufacturing and industrial technologies and activities related to the college’s education program. The Midlothian Campus open house will showcase the campus’ creative spaces related to visual and performing arts, as well as the four-year college and university transfer opportunities specific to Tyler’s Engineering Program. So, whether you are in high school nearing graduation; have been out of school for a while; are considering changing careers; are an employer interested in training options, interns or new hires; or are a parent, counselor or teacher who would like to offer guidance on career opportunities, the Modern Makers Open House events have something for you.
