Fall 2020 Student Services

We are pleased to be able to offer remote and in-person assistance to our students to prepare for the fall 2020 semester. It is recommended that you access our student services remotely. If you are unable to utilize our remote student services, offices will be open beginning August 10 to provide in-person assistance. In many cases, appointments for on-campus services are encouraged.

If you plan to come to campus, please carefully read the instructions for each office you plan to visit and follow Tyler's campus safety protocols. These protocols include but are not limited to wearing a face covering over your nose and mouth when inside campus buildings and when interacting with Tyler staff; maintaining six-feet of social distancing; and following the guidelines for when you should not come to campus.

Academic Support

ARC

Remote Assistance
The primary mode for tutoring beginning in fall 2020 will be remote via Zoom. Given the need for social distancing and limits to the number of students and staff that can be in the center at any given time, this will allow tutoring staff and the ARC to provide the most effective and dynamic support across the college.

Virtual drop-in hours, which may be accessed at jtcc.edu/tutoring, will be available 10am–6pm Monday through Thursday, as well as by appointment for any time throughout the week requested by the student. The ARC will try to accommodate students’ appointment requests, but appointments are subject to tutor availability. Students wishing to make an appointment after drop in hours, can fill out their request here. Students will need to be logged into their MyTyler account to access the form.

On Campus Assistance
The ARC will be open from 10 am–5 pm Monday through Thursday on both campuses.

The purpose of in person support is to help students with technical difficulties such as accessing course work on Canvas, utilizing Zoom, setting up Respondus, etc. Priority will be given to students who have made appointments to come in, but we will try to accommodate students who walk-in as space and distancing allow. The number of students will be limited to no more than 12 people per center at any one time and students will be allowed a maximum of one hour in the ARC. No student guests will be allowed in the ARC.

On a limited basis, students may also reach out to the ARC for in-person tutoring. Appointments will need to be requested 48 business hours in advance of an appointment. In person appointments will only be available throughout the week based on tutor availability and student needs. Requests should be made by emailing arc@jtcc.edu

Walk ins are not allowed due to the tightness of the space. When arriving, check in at the front desk with the student worker or with the Career and Internship Coordinator. Only one person may attend each appointment due to physical distancing measures.
