John Tyler Community College – Tyler 2021

In coordination with the Virginia Community College System’s (VCCS) Complete 2021 goals and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), John Tyler provides data on student achievement for reporting and accreditation purposes.

Our Strategic Plan outlines John Tyler’s commitment to a culture of excellence, comprehensive access for all students, and a focus on student success with a smooth transition into the workforce.

Enrollment

The following chart shows the JTCC Enrollment Goals. The chart ranges from 12,500 to 16,500 vertically, reflecting the annual headcount of John Tyler students. Horizontally the chart ranges from 2013-14 to 2018-19 and there are three categories shown on the chart: Actual Headcount, Baseline, and Goal. The baseline is 13,750. The goal is 16,000 students by 2021. Lastly, the Actual Headcount is 13,980 for 2013-14, 13,753 for 2014-15, 14,135 for 2015-16, 13,930 for 2016-17 and 14,329 for 2017-18.

Retention

The following chart shows the JTCC Retention Goals. The chart ranges from 30% to 70% vertically, reflecting the Fall-to-Fall retention of first-time-in-college students. Horizontally the chart ranges from 2013-14 to 2018-19 and there are three categories shown on the chart: Actual Fall-to-Fall Retention, Baseline, and Goal. The baseline is 48%. The goal is 65% of first-time-in-college students by 2021. Lastly, the Actual Fall-to-Fall Retention is 48% for 2013-14, 50% for 2014-15, 54% for 2015-16, and 55% for 2016-17.

Graduation and Awards

The following chart shows the JTCC Award Goals. The chart ranges from 0 to 3,500 vertically, reflecting the total count of awards earned by John Tyler students annually. To clarify, a single student earning an Associate’s Degree and a Certificate in a single year would be counted twice. Horizontally the chart ranges from 2013-14 to 2018-19 and there are three categories shown on the chart: Actual Awards, Baseline, and Goal. The baseline is 1,300. The goal is 3,000 by 2021. Lastly, the Actual Awards is 1,333 for 2013-14, 1,470 for 2014-15, 1,610 for 2015-16, 1,755 for 2016-17, and 1,820 for 2017-18.
