Pregnant Students and Lactation Space

John Tyler Community College seeks to support all of our students in achieving their goals through academic and career success.  We understand that students who are pregnant or parenting may face additional challenges when juggling school and parenting responsibilities. For assistance connecting to academic and/or community resources contact, Michelle Spencer, Associate Dean of Students at mspencer@jtcc.edu.

Breastfeeding and Lactation Rooms

Private breastfeeding and lactation rooms are available for all JTCC students, faculty, and staff.  To arrange for time in one of our lactation rooms, please contact Michelle Spencer, Associate Dean of Students, at 804-594-1534 or mspencer@jtcc.edu or Sandra Kirkland, Dean of Students, at 804-594-1566 or skirkland@jtcc.edu.  If you have an immediate need, please contact JTCC Security at 804-796-4025 (Chester) or 804-897-6678 (Midlothian).

*Rooms are equipped with refrigerators for storage of breastmilk. 

**Lactation materials can be washed using private sinks at both campuses

  • Midlothian Campus - T-Building Employee Lounge, Room T313
  • Chester Campus – Moyar Hall, Room M112C

For support and resources to help with balancing school and parenting, single parents are encouraged to join the JTCC Single Parent Network Club
