Concurrent Enrollment

Concurrently enrolled students earn college credit by taking courses at John Tyler Community College prior to their high school graduation. Students who qualify for concurrent enrollment can take classes on the Midlothian campus, Chester campus or online. All individuals admitted as concurrent enrollment students must demonstrate readiness for college by achieving satisfactory scores on college placement tests or by meeting other entrance standards as set by the College. See the below chart for cut-off scores.

Concurrent enrollment is generally restricted to high school juniors and seniors. Students studying on the sophomore level or lower who wish to enroll prior to their junior year should make an appointment to request an exception to the concurrent Admission Policy by emailing Rachel Clouse at rclouse@jtcc.edu.

Public and private high school students under 17 years of age and all homeschool students, regardless of age, and their parents or guardians should attend a concurrent information session. Email Rachel Clouse in the Dean of Students Office at, rclouse@jtcc.edu for information session dates and requirements.

If available, please bring the following documents to the information session:

  1. A copy of your most current homeschool jurisdiction letter from the county in which you reside or a letter from your public or private high school giving you permission to attend JTCC.
  2. A letter from your parent or guardian giving you permission to attend JTCC.
  3. Copies on any PSAT, SAT or ACT exams you may have taken.
