Future Preschool Teacher
If you are new-to-college and interested in becoming a preschool teacher, Tyler offers the following programs:

Switching careers?
Future K-12 Teacher
If you have a college degree and you are interested in becoming a public school teacher, JTCC's Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA) offers training and services through EducateVA. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree (with a minimum GPA of 2.5), have 5 years of full-time professional work experience, and have passed the PRAXIS Subject Assessment as well as the VCLA.

Future Career and Technical Education Teachers
If you have industry experience and want to become a public school teacher, beginning in fall 2020, JTCC will offer training to provisionally hired CTE teachers so they can earn their Technical Professional License within two years. This Registered Apprenticeship will include courses required by the Virginia Department of Education as well as an on-the-job training plan, support for tuition, professional development, and mentorship.

Current K-12 Teacher
If you are currently teaching and want to earn professional development points, JTCC offers a variety of recertification courses. Some examples include the following: Teaching Exceptional Children, Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Classroom Management.
