Frequently Asked Questions about Refunds
How will I receive my refund?
If you paid your tuition and fees online with a credit card using QuikPAY in myTyler, your tuition refund will be issued to the card that was used. No further action is necessary.
If you did not use QuickPay, you can choose to receive your refund in one of two ways:
- Direct deposit (ACH)
- Paper check
If you do not indicate your preference in the JTCC Refund Portal, you will receive your refund as a paper check.
How long will my refund take?
It depends on how your refund is being sent to you. Generally:
- Direct Deposit (ACH): Funds are usually available within 5-7 business days after your refund is posted in the Student Information System.
- Paper Check: Checks will be mailed through the US Postal Service to the mailing address listed in the Student Information System. Allow 10 to 14 business days after you see the refund posted on your Student Information System account for the check to arrive at your home.
- QuikPay: Funds are usually available 3-4 business days after your refund is posted in the Student Information System.
A business day is considered to be Monday – Friday when the College is open.
I never expect to have a refund. Why should I select a refund disbursement preference?
Although you might not expect to have a financial aid disbursement or get a tuition refund, we recommend setting a refund disbursement preference. After all, you may need to drop a class, a class may be cancelled, or you may receive financial assistance you were not anticipating.
Signing up early and selecting your refund disbursement method ensures you will always receive your disbursements in a timely manner. Select your preference in the JTCC Refund Portal.
What if I don’t pick a refund method?
If you paid your tuition and fees online with a credit card using QuikPAY in myTyler, your tuition refund will be issued to the card that was used within 3-4 business days after refund is posted in the student information system.
If you pay your tuition and fees at the Cashier's Office or receive financial aid, you are highly encouraged to register on the JTCC Refund Portal. If you fail to register, your refund will be issued in the form of a check and mailed to your current mailing address that the College has on file in the Student Information System (SIS). Checks are mailed by TMS and may take as long as 10 - 14 days after your refund is posted in the student information system.
