Friday, September 13th: "Intro to Excel for STEM Classes Workshop -- Covers basic excel functions and general overview for use in Quantitative Reasoning, Statistics, and for making basic graphs for science classes. The workshop will be held at the Midlothian library computer lab from 1pm-2pm. 

Tuesday, September 17th: "Constitution Day" -- Participate in U.S. Constitution Trivia and don't be shocked to find us recording while you answer your questions.  Stop by for a chance to win cool JTCC SWAG. We will have a table located on the 1st floor of Moyar Hall by the security stand at the Chester campus and on the 2nd floor of Hamel Hall in front of the library at the Midlothian campus from 10am-1pm. We may post your answers on our JTCC Student Activities Facebook Group. If you want to pick up a constitution booklet after 1pm please visit our student activities office. 

Tuesday, September 17th: "Part-Time Job & Internship Fair" -- Are you looking for an on-campus job, an off-campus job, or an internship? Come meet our employers and learn about great opportunities. Business casual dress preferred (no jeans, shorts, t-shirts). Registration not required. The event will take place on the Midlothian campus in the T-Building from 10:30am-1pm. 

Wednesday, September 18th: "Narrative Workshop" -- The goal for the Narrative Workshop is to explain the overall concept of Narrative assignments and the major aspects within them that students should expound upon. Students will benefit from the workshop because it highlights certain characteristics about Narratives that students tend to mix up with other types of papers like the use of first person, thesis statements and more. The workshop will be held on both campuses in the library from 2pm-3pm. 

Wednesday, September 18th: "Chromebooks 101: Office 365" -- Take advantage of all of your Tyler resources.  Join the Tyler Libraries to learn about the Office 365 applications available to all students.  Office 365 allows students to utilize Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and more. This workshop will also highlight the Libraries’ Chromebook checkout program. This workshop will take place at the Chester campus library at 11am.

All Semester: "College Night @Laser Quest" -- All Tyler students are invited to participate in Laser Quest Night between 6pm-9pm on Wednesdays & Thursdays for the discounted price of $6.50 per game. You must present your Student ID. 

All Semester: "Recreational Swimming" -- Participate in recreational swimming at Virginia State University, Daniel’s Gymnasium pool between the times of 7pm-10pm.  You must present your Student ID.

Intramural Sports 

To register for all intramuaral sports you must be logged into your student email account. 

Volleyball Club: "Sign-Up Today" -- We're looking to start-up a Volleyball club here at Tyler. The club will meet 1 or 2 times a week. Joining this club is a great way to stay active and meet new people. Participants can be of any skill level. Sign-up by emailing studentactivities@jtcc.edu

Flag Football: "Sign-Up Today"-- The season will start on October 16th and games will be held on the Midlothian campus on the quad (between t-building & Hamel Hall). Games will be held on Wednesdays from 5:15pm-6:15pm. Click HERE to register!

Soccer Intramurals: "Sign-Up Today" -- Soccer intramurals will start September 23rd and will be held at the Chester campus on the soccer field. Games will be held from 5:15pm-6:15pm on Mondays. Click HERE to register!

Student ID's

Student IDs can be picked up from the Office of Student Activities during normal business hours. There is no charge for a student ID. Student IDs may also be required to attend certain student activities on campus.

Reasons to obtain your ID:

  • Access to VSU recreational facilities (swimming pool)
  • The ability to be identified as a Tyler student quickly
